They said 8 to 10 weeks recovery, so in my mind I thought I would be ready to start swinging a club today. Let me tell you, I am a long way from that. My recovery has been tempered by a freak Achilles heel injury. I have had heal bone spurs for years, and they have done very little to effect day-to-day activity except ruin some shoes. But somehow, shortly after I started my rehab walking, I blow up the left Achilles. We think we can manage it for some time, but it looks like the heel will require surgery sometime soon. Hope we can wait till mid-November to get past this cancer thing. So now I am limping…add podiatrist to the list of care team, compression socks? WTF those are for old people!
So, on top of that, I have some pain in my lower abdomen below the incision. Could just be nerves healing or infection under the skin. CT today to see what that is. Follow up Capsule endoscopy tomorrow to check out small intestine. Follow up with surgeon and oncology in next few weeks. There is no pressure, as we are supposed to start international travel for work on August 25 and pretty much go full on the road through November 1.
The good news is all the doctor’s comment on how pretty my scar is, so I got that going.
